My Daily Roadtrip

Making cleaning simpler and safer (giveaway!)

While I don’t plan to ‘push’ products on this blog, I do want to share items from time to time that I think are worth sharing about; items I have personally used and recommend. I’ve got one such item for you today! Awhile back, I was having a group of moms and their small kiddos over for a play date. At one point, one of the moms said that she really wanted to show us something, then proceeded to get out a small cloth, rinse it with water, then wash my floor to ceiling glass deck doors until they were sparkling … in a matter of about 1 minute! All of the rest of us sat there in awe – the windows were so clean and after only using a cloth and water?! We wanted to know more … this friend told us more about the cloths, then proceeded to share that she had been selling them for 1 year. I accused her of holding out on us ;), and her response was that she didn’t ever want us to feel like she was pushing products on us, but that instead, when she eventually shared about the cloth, she wanted us to think she had been holding out on us!

Mission accomplished, my friend.

The cloth she was using was not just any cloth, but an E-cloth. I had never heard of such a thing. Basically, the e-cloths are a line of cleaning cloths that remove 99% of bacteria from surfaces without using any chemicals, but only water. Are you skeptical yet? I was. But then my friend told us more, plus brought out the ‘professional cleaning cloth’ with silver ions (she had been using the glass and polishing cloth on my windows) for me to try. I went around my house cleaning different things and actually had (gasp!) fun (!) seeing how clean things were getting. Did I buy a few cloths that day? You better believe it!

You may have heard of the Norwex cloth, which is a very similar product. I have never used the Norwex products, so cannot compare the two. However, because I went to the e-cloth facebook page and ‘liked’ it, I received a significant discount on anything I buy. Because of that, and because I cannot find much evidence that there is much difference between the 2 cloths, it made the most sense to buy the e-cloth. Plus, I’ve been very happy with both the polish and the professional cloths (I have not yet tried any of the other products). Here’s why I’m a happy camper with these cloths:

  • No chemicals are used when cleaning with the e-cloths.
  • 99% of bacteria is removed from the objects you are cleaning … with only the use of water!
  • I use less sponges and paper towels, thus cutting down on the amount of waste I throw away.
  • The surfaces I clean with the e-cloth are left residue-free. I especially love how the professional cloth removes grease from my stove top and how the polishing cloth makes my stainless steel-like refrigerator gleam!
  • I can use the professional e-cloth on my wood floors, knowing that I am not hurting the wood with any chemicals (yes, I have to get down on my hands and knees, but it’s incredibly easier than using a mop!)
  • I have used the professional e-cloth to remove stains from my kids’ carpet, and it made a significant difference.
  • The professional e-cloth contains antibacterial natural silver, which serves to speed up the killing of bacteria in the cloth itself, thus keeping the cloths fresher. I love the thought that I am not simply smearing previously wiped up bacteria from my cloth onto other surfaces when I re-use the cloth (blech!)

Are there any negatives to the E-cloth? Well, I do find that they need to be washed after several days of use as they will start to smell a little funky, but that’s really not a huge issue and especially won’t be when I have built up my supply a bit more. Beyond that, I honestly cannot think of any complaint I have of the cloth. And if you’re wondering – no, I’m not just doing this post as a favor to my friend or because I’m getting some kick-back if any of you buy any e-cloths. To make things clear, I am not profiting in any way by writing this post.

I’ll be honest – I don’t know every single fact there is to know about the e-cloth, but what I do know, plus their performance in my house, really impresses me. If you’re still looking for Christmas presents, this could be a great item for someone who wants to simplify cleaning, stop using chemicals to clean, and/or wants to stop wasting sponges, paper towels, etc. that they use to clean.

Or… you could just invest in some for yourself.

Or… you could win one in the following give-away! I have bought one professional E-cloth with silver ions and would love to give it away for one lucky winner to try. All you have to do is leave a comment below and answer the following question:Β  What thing(s) in your house do you most dislike cleaning? That’s it. Simple, no? Leave your comment by noon MST on Sunday, December 11th – the winner will be chosen and revealed on Monday, December 12th.

But, before you leave your comment, I wanted to let you know that, again, if you go to the E-cloth Facebook page and ‘like’ the page, you will receive 20% 50% off your orders. If that is not something you would like to do of if you are not a Facebook user, you can email the seller directly atΒ TheEcloth@gmail.com to get the same discount.

Now, leave your comment … and happy cleaning!

I had heard about these, and thought it was a gimmick! It sounded too good to be true πŸ™‚ Glad to hear firsthand from somebody I consider very practical (very savvy about not spending money on unnecessary things) that they actually do what they claim to do!

I have several things I hate cleaning most! One is the lid to our kitchen garbage bin, which seems to attract splatter no matter how neat I try to be. Another is around the toilet, for obvious reasons. Lastly is ANYTHING in our basement, because it is unfinished and there are centipedes and spiders down there!! πŸ™‚

I have been enjoying your blogs, dear friend, and look forward to hearing more!

    • Great to hear from you, Jen! I love seeing the pics of your sweet girl … isn’t it crazy how motherhood changes your life? It’s the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. πŸ˜‰ So glad you are enjoying the blog – thanks for following it!

And btw, speaking of spiders, do you still own your tarantula?? πŸ™‚

    Dawn,
I have heard about these from our mutual friend and really want to see them in action! My question is how long do they last? Sounds like they do a great job, but as they are more expensive, how much use can you really get out of them. How do we know that they really remove the bacteria?

The think I most hate cleaning in my house would probably be the stove. It seems I can never get all the grease off, oh, and my stainless steal microwave. Constant finger prints drive me crazy!

    • Leah, you have great questions – I’m glad you asked them as I found out some answers myself. πŸ™‚ The professional cloth (with silver ions) are guaranteed for 1000 washes and the other cloths for 300 washes – if they fall apart, you can send it back for a new one. In fact, I just found out that if you are not 100% satisfied with any of the cloths, you get your money back. You can find some additional info here: http://www.myecloth.com/Convincing-Evidence-Charts-Vidoes_c_9.html

The research was done by a non-ecloth related company, just fyi. The research will show how much bacteria the cloth removes and one of the videos shows how the cloth removes protein from raw chicken from a counter surface. I trust the person doing the experiment, as well.

I hope that helps – let me know if you need more info, Leah.

Anything that has to do with mold is my least favorite cleaning job–windowsills, walls, shower curtains, whatever. What can you expect with the Pacific Northwest?

    • Laura, I hear you – shower curtains? Yuck. I’m sure that wet air out there is no fun in the mold respect – hope you’re hanging in there during the rainy season!

  4. Dawn,
Oh my, these sound like magic. Yep I will call them the magic cloths. I could see myself using these magic cloths on my windows and glass door; as I have hand prints and dog licks that like to appear throughout the day. Also, I hope these work on mirrors because I greatly dislike cleaning our bathroom mirrors! Thanks for the info on these fun guys!

I have been looking at these for a while, just haven’t been willing to spend $$ on them yet. Maybe I’ll break down and get some soon πŸ™‚ Hope you are doing well Dawn!
Oh! and I dislike cleaning the tub the most!

    Merry Christmas!

    • Mary, at the risk of raving too much about the cloths, I wanted to let you know that I too hate cleaning the tub and the professional e-cloth makes it a cinch – no more dreading that particular cleaning task! We are well … Abigail turns one next week (sniff, sniff) and Elijah is learning a ton these days (and is hilarious … naughty at times, but hilarious!). Merry Christmas to the Schramms. Can we get together post-holiday season?

  6. I have some Norwex and love them, but hate the price. I would love to try this to compare cleaning.

I hate cleaningthe glass shower doors hard water spots!

I am lucky to be related to the girl that sells e-coths. πŸ˜‰ They are my favorite cleaning products by FAR. I am not even sure how I lived without them – or ever cleaned a mirror satisfactorily. The polish cloth is my favorite, favorite, favorite. Hello sparkly windows! (ps. I also own a Norwex microfiber and polish cloth – as a friend of my husband’s thru a party and we were guilted into purchasing – and for the big price difference, I have never been able to see much of a difference in the two brands…)

I am sitting here trying to think of my least favorite thing to clean now. And honestly, nothing comes to mind. Maybe the top of my fridge?

  8. I’ve been using these since I heard of them from “Maker’s Diet Mom.” I don’t have the ones with the silver ions in them, though. The least favorite thing I like to clean are the toilets. Thanks for the giveaway! πŸ™‚

  9. Have not heard of the e-cloth, but have been to a Norwex party….did not purchase anything because of the cost. Things I dislike cleaning….windows and dusting furniture. Can these cloths be used for dusting??

Looking forward to seeing you at Christmas! Love you!

    Mom

  10. I would love to try these! have heard about them from a few friends now, and think it’s time to dive in. Thanks for hosting a giveaway

  11. I meant to type this as well. I least enjoy cleaning our tiled basement floor. The grout doesn’t stay clean and has a few ‘holes’ in it which trap dirt, and it always looks dirty no matter what.

Hi Dawn! I have never heard of these cloths and now I’m very curious about them. Anything that cleans well and doesn’t require strong, harsh chemicals is a great thing.

My least favorite thing to clean has to be the bathtubs and shower…just do not like it!

  13. Dawn, you are doing such a great job with your blog! I love it! Of course, I have to leave a comment for this giveaway πŸ™‚ These cloths sound amazing! By far the thing I hate cleaning the most is our shower. The door gets so grimy and gross! Hope your family has a Merry Christmas! -Jillian

    • Thanks for your kind words, Jillian … you are sweet. πŸ™‚ Merry Christmas to your family as well!

      • I was just talking to a friend last night who used the e-cloth Polish cloth on her shower door (only with water) and was A.Maz.ed by how clean it came. She has tried ‘every’ chemical out there and nothing touched it.

  14. My least favorite thing to clean is the flat glass top on the electric stove. Ours is white. I think it is the only one ever sold that is white because they must have found out how awful it looks and hard it is to clean with all of that stuck on burnt food. It’s not fun. But…I did win it in a drawing so I won’t complain- anymore! πŸ™‚ You are sweet to host a giveaway! I’d like to try the cleaning cloths. I have two cleaning jobs I do in the evening and those houses are SO well cleaned! Mine, not so much! πŸ™‚

  15. What a great giveaway! I most dislike cleaning the bathrooms. πŸ™‚ As I was reading I was excited about letting my girls help with the cleaning as it would be so much safer for little ones.
